A Refuge of Hope, A Fortress of Learning. Refuge and Fortress Free School is a faith-based, free home and boarding school dedicated to young children uprooted by violence and religious conflict. We provide a safe home, healing care, and quality education for disadvantaged Nigerian children aged 2–12 (for now) who have experienced trauma. Our nurturing campus allows these vulnerable children to reclaim their childhood and dream again.
Across Nigeria, conflict and poverty have left over 20 million children out of school. At Refuge and Fortress, we are changing that story one child at a time. We currently shelter and educate 28 children from families who fled unrest in Kaduna, Benue, from Ondo and Imo states. In our care, these boys and girls receive holistic support – nutritious meals, counseling, spiritual guidance, and an excellent education – all completely free for their families. Every child here is embraced with love and given the tools to heal and thrive.
